A few months ago, I decided I was overdue for a proper vacation. The last time I had been away for any length of time was five years ago. After my first year of university, my parents generously sponsored me to go on a European tour. I visited eight countries in fourteen days, and slept in youth hostels the entire time. The only luggage I brought with me was my trusty backpack. Following the advice of some more seasoned travelers, I sewed a Canadian flag on my backpack. Everyone loves Canadians, eh!

Fast-forward to the 21st century where things are done differently. Sure, clip-ons are still widely available, but theyre hardly the only choice anymore. The British shopper is a strange beast. It seems that our love affair with high street
shopping may have peaked this year yet our trends to shopping on the web look to
be increasing even further. Recent statistics released suggest we are far more likely
to buy on the internet than our European or even American cousins. The irony
though is that although the UK is benefiting from an internet sales boom our UK
manufacturers continue to struggle.
